Armadale Thistle Ladies FC secure new two-year sponsorship deal and strips from Commsworld

Armadale Thistle Ladies FC are savouring another landmark win – a new sponsorship deal with telecoms firm Commsworld.

Commsworld agreed a two-year package with the women’s football team, who have enjoyed a fine start to their debut season in SWF League One. The deal includes funds for new kits for the 22-player squad emblazoned with the company’s logo.

Commsworld are based in Newbridge and have a strong connection with both Armadale Thistle Ladies and West Lothian.

Star Thistle player Chloe McGarry’s father Andy McGarry has worked at Commsworld since it was founded 30 years ago, while Commsworld Service Delivery Manager Connor McCloskey has joined Thistle as a coach. Many employees also live in the area.

The deal is also a boost for Armadale Thistle Ladies, who were formed in 2023 out of the former Livingston Women FC Development team after they enjoyed a two-year unbeaten run that saw them secure back-to-back titles in the fifth tier of Scottish women’s football.

Because league rules meant as a development side they couldn’t be promoted, manager Jamie Williamson and his assistant manager David Watson secured a move to Armadale Thistle.

In their inaugural season as Armadale Thistle Ladies they secured the SWF East League title, sealing promotion to the national SWF League One.

Martina Corr,  Commsworld Marketing Manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor Armadale Thistle Ladies. The team is one that is close to the hearts of the company, thanks to the personal connection with Andy, whose daughter Chloe is a regular for Thistle, and Connor.

“Not only that but Jamie and David have managed to quickly establish the team as a real driving force for women’s football in West Lothian. With Commsworld’s support we very much hope they can build on this and achieve more success.”

Jamie Williamson said: “The new Commsworld sponsorship deal is tremendous news for Armadale Thistle Ladies, and we are very thankful to them for putting their faith and their funds in our team.

“Securing a new sponsorship deal is not only a boost our players, David and myself, who are loving being in the national SWF League One, but also for the club who have made us all feel so welcome since we became part of the Armadale Thistle family.

“I am looking forward to the next chapter in the story of Armadale Thistle Ladies FC.”
